Cultural Development Objectives

1. I want to be exposed to and learn about a different stystem of education, as well as different styles of teaching in Ireland. I will carry these approaches with, as well as the ones I have already established, to my own classroom someday.

2. I want to develop an appreciation, as well as obtain teaching skills, for approaches that establish a multi-cultural and integrative classroom.

3. In going to Ireland I will be fully immersed into a different culture. I have lived in Ireland previously, but will be experiencing it from a different perspective. I will be the teacher in the classroom, not a student. I will understand again what it is like to be a minority, and how I must adapt. I think that being the minority will help me greatly with diverse students that I will have in my classroom some day.
